Connemara Greenway

Connemara Greenway

Fernwood is at the beginning of the Connemara Greenway.

The Connemara Greenway is the reopening of the disused railway line that once linked Clifden to Galway City and beyond.  This fantastic resource, in the process of being upgraded, will now be a cycle track and walkway that will lead you into the true depths of Connemara's wilderness, areas that have been previously inaccessible to the general public.

There is currently an 8km section open from Fernwood and in the next 12 months we hope to see a link up with the 10km already open around Ballynahinch Castle.  So get on your bike or don your best walking shoes, pack a picnic and head out for a day of exploration like no other.  Be inspired and immerse yourself in the landscape made infamous by Paul Henry and so many other great artists and writers through the years.

We are delighted to make available 2 cruising bikes for our guests' use at Fernwood.  These are only available on a first come, first serve basis and cannot be booked in advance.

You are one ride away from a good mood.
