Forest Walks

Fernwood sits in the centre of a beautiful native woodland

Woodland is a rare and special offering in Connemara, especially native woodland.  It is our sole aim to preserve the natural evolution of this wood as well as protect all of its inhabitants.  It is a truly special experience to ‘just be’ in this hallowed space.  We have created a little path which undulates gently through the forest leading you to the lake.  We have also extended these pathways, over the rope bridge, to encourage our guests to forest bathe in complete peace and isolation.  There are 'homemade' benches placed for you to sit and take it all in, the bog, the lake, the river.  The only sounds will be the river that runs through it and the odd distant rustle from the wildlife that inhabits it.  We are blessed in the winter months to have migrating snipe and woodcock take up residence on the Farm.  It was the site of a woodcock in flight that led us to seal the deal on this property, long story……
